Junior doctors industrial action (24-28 February 2024)

British Medical Association (BMA) junior doctors are scheduled to take industrial action from 7am Saturday 24th to 11:59pm Wednesday 28th February 2024.

As a result, we are expecting that a number of junior doctors who work at Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust will be on strike during this time.

To maintain patient safety, some of our services may be disrupted so that our clinical teams can prioritise our most urgent patients and care.

If your scheduled appointment is impacted by the upcoming industrial action, we will be in touch with you as soon as possible to let you know and to provide you with a re-arranged date. We appreciate for anyone currently waiting for an appointment that any changes will be extremely frustrating, and we apologise in advance for the inconvenience this causes to anyone who is affected.

We will be contacting any patients whose appointments may be affected. If you are not contacted, please attend the hospital as normal.

As one of the only trusts in the UK dedicated to the care of women, we understand the sensitivities of female health and offer a comprehensive range of gynaecology services. Put simply, gynaecology is the clinical area focused on the health of the female reproductive system.

Specialist services

As well as providing a specialist service for urogynaecology - bladder and prolapse conditions - and miscarriage, we are the specialist regional centre for cancer services, known as gynaecology oncology within the Merseyside and Cheshire Cancer Network.

We also have a 24 hour gynaecology Emergency Room and an Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit, giving rapid access to medical treatment and ultrasound scans for women who experience a gynaecology emergency especially in the early stages of pregnancy.

Dedicated care

Our team at Liverpool Women’s includes many specialists which, as well as consultants, include highly experienced Consultant Nurses who lead many of the gynaecology clinics and procedures.

Whether you are an inpatient on our wards, a day patient or an outpatient at one of our clinics you can rest assured that you will be cared for by a team of professionals who will ensure you receive the best possible treatment, the utmost care and the best medical attention.
