Advice during upcoming doctors’ industrial action (2-5 October 2023)

Industrial action by hospital consultants and junior doctors is scheduled to take place between 2-5 October. Some of our services may be impacted.

Unless you are advised otherwise, please attend the hospital as normal for any appointments or procedures.

Honeysuckle Bereavement Service

The Honeysuckle Team are the dedicated baby bereavement team at Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust.

The Honeysuckle Team provide care for women and their families at Liverpool Women’s Hospital following pregnancy loss at any gestation and early neonatal death.

The team consists of 2 bereavement support midwives, Marie Kelleher and Pauline McBurnie, and bereavement support officer, Sarah Martin.

Monthly Support Group

The Honeysuckle Team’s specialist bereavement midwives run a monthly support group.

Group sessions take place in a calm, welcoming environment with refreshments, crafts and a listening ear for anyone affected by miscarriage, ectopic or molar pregnancy, termination of pregnancy for fetal anomaly, stillbirth and early neonatal death.

The meetings are for adults only, due to the sensitive nature of the group children cannot attend.

Baby loss Awareness Week 2023

Our beautiful Service of Remembrance will once again be held at St George’s Hall on Tuesday 10th October 2023. This is our annual event organised by the Liverpool Women's Honeysuckle Bereavement Team that brings bereaved families and friends together to remember all those taken too soon.

The service is held during Baby Loss Awareness week which take place between the 9th  - 15th October, and aims to raise awareness about baby loss in the UK. Bereaved families, healthcare professionals, support organisations and volunteers come together to remember babies who have died during any stage of pregnancy, at or soon after birth and in infancy.

The services will be held on Tuesday 10th October 2023 in the Great Hall at St George’s Hall, St George’s Place, Liverpool, L1 1JJ.

  • Early service, doors open at 4.30pm with refreshments and crafts. Service will begin at 5.30pm.
  • Late service, doors open at 7.15pm with refreshments and crafts. Service will begin at 8pm.

As in previous years our Honeysuckle Bereavement team would like to invite families to have their baby/babies names included in the service, please email  by Sunday 10th September. Please note, unfortunately names received after this date cannot be added.

To close the week and unite bereaved families around the world we ask you to join us on Sunday 15th October in lighting a candle, together we can create a beautiful wave of light, remembering all the babies gone too soon #WaveofLight #BLAW2023
