Kara & Lyla’s Big Surprise is being sold in aid of Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity with all proceeds going to our Big Tiny Steps Appeal. The book sees two young cats arrive at Liverpool Cats’ Hospital to meet some new kitten additions to their family. The author, Will Mackie, wanted to support the Liverpool Women’s Hospital – as a thank you to all nurses and midwives who dedicate themselves to looking after babies and mothers across the region. All profits from the book will go back into the running of the hospital’s services.
Work is underway at Liverpool Women’s to build a bigger, better, Neonatal facility which will help to improve the patient and family experience, with the new unit due to open in Summer 2020. The Big Tiny Steps Appeal aims to raise £250,000 to provide cot-side comforts and essential family facilities for the new Neonatal unit. Your generous support will help us introduce reclining chairs for skin to skin care next to the incubator, additional family accommodation, a large sitting area, kitchen and laundry facilities. For the first time ever, the Neonatal unit will have an outdoor garden space for our patients and families to use to escape the busy clinical environment and help develop their babies’ senses.
Once the appeal ends all monies raised will go to the general purposes fund, supporting the best healthcare for women and babies in a safe friendly and caring environment.
