Liverpool Women’s is pleased to announce that our new Neonatal Unit is now open.
The development of our new Neonatal Unit is now complete following a major refurbishment and extension of the existing facility to create the largest unit of its kind in the UK.
Liverpool Women’s is a recognised centre of excellence for neonatal care - providing care for babies born prematurely. They are the most vulnerable patients, facing the most severe medical challenges that require specialist treatment.
Each year more than 1,000 families accompany their premature and critically ill babies to the Neonatal Unit, as they are in need of the specialist care that only Liverpool Women’s can provide.
Improvements to the existing Neonatal Unit were essential to respond to this demand, keep premature and sick babies safe and to improve the patient and family experience. This exciting redevelopment also addresses the shortage of parental accommodation and will allow the unit to better comply with modern standards.
