Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC)

The Liverpool Women's new diagnostic services will be going live in the very near future, this will add to the diagnostic capacity in the region and allow people who are waiting for much needed scans to be seen more quickly, helping to reduce the backlog.

Work to establish a Community Diagnostic Centre at Crown Street is progressing well and you may be aware of construction work that is ongoing as part of the Crown Street Enhancements Programme.  We will be creating a new colposcopy suite, CT, and MRI imaging facilities. This work is going well and is on track for completion with the colposcopy suite due to be completed in June 2022, with permanent CT and MRI due for completion in December 2022.

In the interim, the Liverpool Women's Hospital has taken delivery of a Mobile CT Scanner located near the front of the hospital which is all part of the development of a new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) onsite at the hospital. This will initially take patients from Liverpool University Hospitals (LUHFT) and Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital (LHCH), and at a later date this offer will be extended to include patients from other Trusts in the region or referred to the Liverpool Women's.

This programme is part of a national programme, for which LWH has been awarded an initial £5.2m. There are other CDCs in the region and in the area. More information is available here: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/40-community-diagnostic-centres-launching-across-england.

The CDC is being developed in conjunction with the Crown Street Enhancements Programme
