Double celebration for Professor of Maternal Fetal Medicine

It has been a double cause for celebration recently, for one of Liverpool Women’s leading consultants.

Professor Asma Khalil is a Professor in Obstetrics and Maternal Fetal Medicine at Liverpool Women’s.

Asma was a finalist in the Chief Scientific Officer’s Excellence in Healthcare Awards 2022 earlier this month as well as being appointed Vice President of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in September.

Commenting on her appointment, Professor Khalil said: “I would like to take the opportunity to thank all those who supported me throughout the years. I do not underestimate the current challenges we all facing but I will do my best. We need to work together to achieve the best for women’s health and to empower our members, fellow and trainees during these difficult times.”

Professor Khalil was also recently a finalist in the Chief Scientific Officer’s Excellence in Healthcare Awards 2022. Asma’s nomination was in the Excellence in Healthcare Science Delivery category for the Fetoscopy service which having been introduced by Professor Khalil in December 2021, provides women with complex twin pregnancy conditions access to expert treatment in the North West which was previously unavailable.

Congratulations Asma!
