Trust Encourages World to Celebrate Women

Liverpool Women’s Hospital will invite the world to use social media to celebrate inspirational women this weekend.

Saturday 8th March is International Women’s Day and the Liverpool hospital, the largest women’s hospital in Europe, is calling on Twitter users all over the world to pay homage to the great women in their lives using the hash tag #MyGreatWomen.

Kathryn Thomson, CEO at Liverpool Women’s, said: “As a hospital dedicated to the care of women and their families, we see thousands of inspiring women come through our doors every year. We thought it would be nice for women to take centre stage on the day when the world is supposed to be thinking about how amazing they are.”

“At some time or another we will all have come into contact with a woman who has inspired us and the #MyGreatWomen campaign is a great way of reminding people of that fact. I’ll certainly be taking the opportunity to tweet a tribute or two.”

Liverpool Women’s have already had the backing of women’s care providers in New Zealand, who will be amongst the first countries to see in ‘International Women’s Day’, as well as Australia, India, Africa and America, but are looking for everyone across the world to get involved.

Kathryn Thomson added: “The great thing about social media is its ability to transcend time zones, languages and continents. We’re calling on everyone to get involved and make sure our great women know how much we value them.”
