Shaping Women's Health Services in Liverpool for our Future Generations

The city of Liverpool has had a focus on women's health services since 1796 - that's well over 200 years! As you would expect, how these services are delivered and where they are delivered from has evolved over the years driven by the needs of women, babies and their families. (If you want to read more about the journey of women's health in Liverpool view 'our history')

One thing has remained consistent throughout this time, however; and that is the continuous improvement in the range and quality of services offered to women. Healthcare should never stay still – we should always be striving to improve and here at Liverpool Women's we are embarking on the journey to develop the next stage in the history of women’s health services to ensure they are the best possible for the future generations of Liverpool. In thinking about the best clinical services we can provide for the future, we also need to be aware of the need to ensure those services are sustainable and affordable if we are to safeguard and develop them further for future generations.

Here at Liverpool Women's we are passionate about the services we provide and we know the people of Liverpool are too. For that reason, we would like to invite you to join us, here at the Hospital on Friday 29th May 2015, 10am – 1pm so we can start to explore together what the future holds for women’s services in Liverpool. We will spend some time sharing with you our doctors and midwives perspective on the changing health needs of women and babies, but we will spend most of the time talking to you about

  • what it is that women value the most about the services we provide
  • what makes Liverpool Women’s a special place to come for care
  • what aspects of our services would you want to see ‘preserved’ in any future developments?
  • what don’t we provide currently that you feel should be provided

We will also talk to you about our financial situation and why it is important that we are financially stable in order to deliver our future vision for women’s health services.

If you would like to attend the event please contact Helen Gavin, Communications and Membership Officer on 0151 702 4372 or email helen.gavin@lwh.nhs.uk. Places are limited and will be given on a first come first served basis, please inform us of your attendance no later than Wednesday, 27th May 2015.

We really hope you are able to join us on the day; from past experience these events have provided us with a wealth of knowledge, ideas and opportunities!

If you are unable to attend on this date, please be assured there will be lots more opportunities over the coming months to engage with the Future Generations project and share your views. We intend to make the summer of 2015, our Summer of Listening and we commit to keep you fully informed of the programme of events. We would also like to take this opportunity to encourage you to follow our official channels of communication. We have an official Facebook page and also an official Twitter feed
