A time for reflection

I am about to head off for my summer holiday. I always like to do some reflection at this time to prepare for when I get back to work.

Similar to the rest of the public sector it has been a tough year at Liverpool Women's. As ever our staff and volunteers have continued to focus on what really matters – our patients and their families. We know we don't always get it right for our patients and we welcome both positive and negative feedback, so that we can learn from what we do well and not so well.

We have a really exciting autumn to look forward to with the opening of our extended Triage, Induction and Delivery Suite. Work on the refurbishment of our Maternity Ward will be complete and we are already receiving very positive comments from our patients and our staff on the new facilities.

An important part of being a teaching hospital is our contribution to research and early next year will see the official opening of our new research facility - Centre for Women's Health, which has been built in partnership with the University of Liverpool. Liverpool Women's is already at the forefront of research into women's health and neonatal medicine, both nationally and internationally. The new facilities will help our researchers as they strive for improvements.

A big thank you to all of our staff and volunteers for your hard work, and a big thank you to our patients who choose Liverpool Women's Hospital as the place to receive care.
