Rapid access clinic

Your doctor may have referred you to us because of a problem you have discussed with them. You may have experienced symptoms such as unusual vaginal bleeding or post menopausal bleeding, an ovarian cyst or an itchy or abnormal vulva. The purpose of this clinic is to do some tests to immediate specialist assessment so we can get information about your condition as soon as possible. If you are referred to our Rapid Access Clinic at either Liverpool Women’s Hospital or Aintree Centre for Women’s Health you will be seen within two weeks of your referral. It is important that you attend your appointment so that we can ensure you get access to the appropriate diagnostic tests as soon as possible.

What will happen

In the clinic, depending on your symptoms, you will have a full consultation and be offered a number of diagnostics tests. These may include an ultrasound scan (abdominal or vaginal), a blood sample, a vulval biopsy or a pipelle. All of these tests are quick and simple.

Not all your results will be available on the day of your appointment. You will be contacted as soon as results the are available and this will be within two weeks of your appointment.
